The Easter Season is celebrated for fifty days from Easter Sunday to Pentecost Sunday. These above all others are the days for the singing of the Alleluia. The Paschal Candle, a symbol of the presence of the Risen Christ among the people of God, remains in the sanctuary for fifty days through Pentecost Sunday.  The Baptism font filled with ‘living water’ blessed at the Easter Vigil also reminds us of the new life we all received in Baptism. Easter is a time of prayer in joyful expectation for the coming of the Holy Spirit.

The first eight days of the Easter Season make up the Octave of Easter and are celebrated as solemnities of the Lord. The days of the Easter Octave form the “early hours” of this “great Sunday,” with the accounts of the Lord who rose early in the morning, and the early preaching of the disciples who were witnesses to his resurrection. At Mass, a double Alleluia added to the dismissal and its response: Alleluia, Alleluia.!!!

Joyful EASTER!

On behalf of the Priests and staff of Our Lady of Mercy Church we wish you all a very joyful and blessed Easter. May the Risen Christ bless each of you and your loved ones with His lasting Peace!

Happy Easter!

Each individual plaque in memory of a love one, a family or a group, is $150. If you are interested in purchasing one or more, please speak to Melba a the Gift Shop on Sundays or leave your name and phone number at the office. Thank you!
