THE SEASON OF LENT
The Season of Lent began on Ash Wednesday and it will end on Thursday before the celebration of the Lord's Supper. Lent is a forty days season in which we celebrate the passion and death of our Lord Jesus Christ. During this season every Christian is invited to seek personal conversion through the traditional three-fold practice of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Abstinence means no meat, and fasting means that only one full meal is taken or two small portions during the day. Abstinence applies to anyone 14 to 59 years of age and fasting to anyone 18 to 59 years of age, except those who are sick. Every Friday of Lent is a day of abstinence from meat.
